Welcome

Nashville on Thursday, New Songs & Twitter

October 6th, 2009

We are heading to the “big” city on Thursday night to play with the Ocelots at Springwater. We’ve played with the Ocelots several times over the years and they never cease to put on a good show. I believe the show will get goin’ around 10 - 5 bones. We rarely ever play Nashville so if you got nothing else to do you should come out and have a beer with us.

I’ve uploaded a couple of new songs, “Just My Luck” & “Standing Water”, to my personal Myspace page. You can check those out HERE.

We’ve got a couple of big local shows before the year is up. One being at the Boro Bar & Grill with our good friends Hammertorch & Cuttlefish on Halloween night. The other is at Wallstreet on December 12th with the excellent Sons of Roswell from Muscle Shoals & James Jackson Toth’s Wooden Wand. Both should not be missed.

I broke down and got a twitter for TOS. Follow us HERE. There’s nothin’ you’ll find on there that you won’t find here, but I figured - hey, a program my mom uses sure could be helpful to the band!

Back in the 615

September 16th, 2009

We played in Johnson City on Saturday night wrapping up an eight-day stretch of dates through the southeast. The tour couldn’t have been more of a success. After Florence & Jackson on Friday & Saturday night, we hit up Atlanta’s Smiths ‘Ol Bar for the 3 bands for 5$ night. It went well, as well as a Tuesday night could go. We played with a killer band from Austin, TX named Goldcure. Nice dudes.

We got into Auburn with way too much time to kill Wednesday morning. After bumming around the campus and seein’ just about all there is to see in Auburn, Alabama we headed to the Independent for free food and beer. The show ended up being one of the better we’ve ever played outside of town. The place was packed and the people were nice. After the show we ended up getting a 12 pack of miller light and staying in a cabin in the middle of 1800 acres (yeah 1800) in the woods outside Auburn. Here’s some pictures:

Unfortunately, we ended up canceling our show at the Hummingbird in Macon the following night (a TOS first). For whatever reason I got extremely ill from something and ended up spending the night laid up in an apartment on the outskirts of Macon. It was pretty big let down for me personally - the Hummingbird is an incredible place and I was looking forward to all that week. Hopefully we can make the trip back down there sometime early next year.

The next night we played in the small town of Cornelius, North Carolina. Just outside of Charlotte, Cornelius is mostly a tourist town for Lake Norman which is right beside it. We played at the Irish Cue and our set clocked in at just under 3 hours. It was a feat. It went well, our only entertainment competition for the night was billiard tables.

After Johnson City on Saturday it was good to be back home. We are adding more dates to our schedule before the end of the year to hopefully finish out around 80 shows played for the entire year - a personal best. Keep an eye out!

Ol’ Miss

Headed down to Jackson pretty early Saturday morning to play at the Ole Tavern on George Street near downtown. The opening band, The Motions from Columbus, MS, ended up being so young that the owner made them go on at the unbelievable hour of 9 PM on the dot - which led to us having about a 2 and half hour set. We made it through though, thanks in part to a complementary case of Miller High Life.

After the show we made a much ill-advised trip to Taco Bell and then passed out in an apartment behind the venue. All in all - a good night in Mississippi. Tomorrow night we are playing at Smith’s Ol’ Bar in Atlanta. It’s an early one - starts at 7 PM!

We played at On the Rocks in Florence, Alabama last night with Planet Ink. Not only were they great but I think they have a collective age of about 17. Whoa.

The place was pretty packed and we had a killer time. Not only was the owner, Nick, a great guy - but he also hooked us up with free food and drinks. Doesn’t get much better…or it does. One of the guys at the venue was nice enough to rent us a hotel room right down the road. It’s swanky as hell. I might want to move down here.

We have two new t-shirt designs in - printed by Grand Palace. We’ve got them with us on tour - and they should be up in our store very soon. We’ve got one copy of Steel Hearts left. Florence took a bite out of stock so we may not have anymore copies for the rest of the week - which is alright because you can get a FREE download of the album on this very site!

One last thing - check out Front Porch Musings for a new review of Steel Hearts and click HERE to check out Absolutepunk.net’s top 100 list - we’re on it!

Jackson, MS TONIGHT!

Saturday night outside of town

August 18th, 2009

whites2

This last past weekend we played three shows with Sons of Roswell from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. It’s always great meeting new bands on the road but these fellas were heads & shoulders above anyone we’ve played out with in a long time. You should definitely check out their Myspace.

House Pride in Murfreesboro was late and great as always on Thursday night. It was hot as hell but people still managed to hang out inside. Friday night we went to Mike’s hometown of Lexington, Kentucky to play at Lynagh’s Irish Pub outside the UK campus. Though we had to throw together a make-shift PA at 11:30 that night we still managed to have a good show. The next morning we went to a festival downtown that Mike’s father was playing at it - smooth alternative adult contemporary stuff. It was pretty sweet.

Summit City in Whitesburg on Saturday slayed. Sons of Roswell had talked it up a good amount the last couple of days - and it didn’t disappoint. We had a great turn out and the locals were cool as hell. I can’t wait to go back.

Next month we are going on tour throughout most of the south! I’ll put up a final list of the dates later this week!

Midwest, Murfreesboro Pulse Review

July 14th, 2009

We rolled into Memphis by a reasonable hour on Friday night to play at the Buccaneer, which appeared to be a converted sea food restaurant. Not bad. Afterward, however, we discovered the battery in our truck had died. With the help of a couple bar patrons we got a jump and headed for a 24/7 Auto Zone in town. I didn’t know they even had 24/7 Auto Zones. Kick ass. Passed out in a 40 dollar a night hotel in West Memphis about 3 in the morning.

The White Water Tavern in Little Rock was everything our friends had claimed it would be. Super nice people, free beer, great food. We made some new friends and had a great show. It more than made up for the rough night before. We drove back to Memphis after the show as a storm we were watching caught up with us about 60 miles out of Tennessee. It was a lively night.

We will be doing some shows in August with the terrific Sons of Roswell from Muscle Shoals, including a local show at House Pride. Then we are hitting the road in September for at least week. There’s a also a new review of Steel Hearts by the Murfreesboro Pulse that can be read HERE. Also in the works is a music video for Lay Back Down. Release date soon!

Southern Boom

July 8th, 2009

Being as short on cash as ever, we decided to do what any good southerner would do around this time of the year — start a fireworks stand. Set up in a gravel parking lot somewhere between Smyrna and La Vergne; the tent braved rain, wind and an occasional thief.

Though we didn’t make as much cash as we had hoped, we did get to hang out, drink beer, talk to the locals and set off some fireworks. We also decided to kill some time by making a video of the experience of running a fireworks tent, just in case there are any poor musicians out there that want to give it a go next year. Check it out in the videos section!

We are currently booking a southern tour in September including a lot of Alabama dates — keep checking back to see the whole run down once it’s finalized.

Can’t wait for this weekend!
